Basic fuchsin is used to stain ground sections of bones and teeth. Mature, fully mineralized bone tissue remains unstained. Osteoid and not fully mineralized bone tissue stains red, as well as hollow spaces which arose during the preparation of the ground section by the destruction of the cells and blood vessels.
